New
Empire Hotel, Yaowarat Road, China Town
The hotel is located in China Town, very easy access to all the restaurants
there. The hotel has Mandarin speaking staff and they are very helpful
to guest and give correct and value information. The room is clean
but the carpet is little old, the wall has paint seen peeling off
and there is hole on the cupboard. Hot shower is not working, for
a single traveling person s stay, overall comment is still acceptable
for the rate they charge. |

Good location in Chinatown near Wat Traimit and the China Gate. A
lot of good restaurants nearby. Hotel very old and smelly. Carpets
in the rooms disgusting!Staff friendly, but avoid the Hotel-laundry(paid
100Bath for 3 garments, which returned unwashed). Poor service in
the Hotel-Coffee-Shop! I would recommend to stay here no longer than
2 nights!Much better service in the Chinatown Hotel 50 meters away
with a very good restaurant and Internet. |

Older and run down. The paint was peeling and there were water stains
on the bathroom ceiling. Included breakfast was decent and the staff
was friendly. Easy walk to the train station. |

If you are looking for a nice 2 star hotel close to the china-town
markets and a short walk (5 min) to Hua Lamphong MRT Station you cannot
go past the New Empire. A few of the previous comments left here were
not so flattering but you can t expect to much for the price. We come
to BKK to explore, be out and about not to sit in a hotel all day,
all We need is a comfortable bed to sleep in. The front rooms of the
hotel can be a bit noisey so if you are bothered by this request a
room on the back side of the hotel or buy a set of ear plugs from
Watsons pharmacy for 69BHT. The Coffee shop included breakfast is
fairly basic but there are plenty of excellent hawker stalls and coffee
shops along Yaowarat Rd. My partner and i enjoyed our stay and will
revisit this hotel in the future. |

OK so this is not your fancy luxurious hotel as you can find around
Sukumvit area, but it was just fine for me. The room was big enough,
the bathroom perfectly clean and convenient, and the staff (most of
which does not speak english aside from those at the check-in counter)
were all very friendly. The airt con, as in most hotels in this price
range and category is very difficult to regulate unless you happen
to be equipped with a small pair of pliers (very convenient to have
while traveling in Thailand). All in all I think it was quite a nice
little place at a very reasonable cost. I ll definitely use it again
when in this part of town. |

The hotel is a bit old. The elevator is slow. Anyway, the receptionists
are very friendly. It is quite easy to access to nearby China Town
for shopping, easy access to restaurants. It is a good choice with
cheap price if people do not expect much, as it provides basic needs.
Good enough for rest after travelling in town! |

Nice and simple hotel. Price fair to match equipment of the room and
breakfast. Staff friendly, but all not very good at English. |

You get what you pay for. I was reminded of the hotel in The World
of Suzie Wong . It was fun and very well located. My daily walks were
a hoot and a half. |

Run down hotel; no atmosphere. Long ill-lit corridors with rooms.
AC blasted right onto the bed and kept us awake.. no regulation. The
bathroom was leaky and dirty. The room was itself not much better.
We looked down upon the Chinatown street at night. I guess you could
say you get what you pay for. But, I would advocate staying elsewehere,
especially if you are with kids |

My room was noisy because it faced Yawarat, and the windows provided
essentially no soundproofing. Food was bad. Much worse, the hotel
smelled musty. Shortly after arriving, I began to feel ill with allergy
symptoms. I noticed that the symptoms got worse whenever I turned
on the air conditioning. Fortunately, I did not stay in the New Empire
Hotel during my entire visit, as I travelled south for a few days.
I switched to Bangkok City Center, located nearby on my last day.
That is a far better hotel, and worth the additional expense. |
