Tower Inn Rama VI, Rama VI Road, near Chatuchak
Hotel older and impersonal. Lifts slow and non-airconditioned. Several
conferences at the time of our stay made this situation worse. Ensure
you get a business card from Hotel as there are 3 Grand Tower Inns
in Bangkok. Found breakfast the best meal at the hotel. Lunch and
Dinner buffets were very Asian taste orientated. Would probably stay
somewhere else next time. |

everything was ok with the hotel until we checked out. We had to leave
a 2000 Baht deposit. Upon leaving i was told to pay 600 Baht for the
extra bed. I booked a triple and informed them of this. After a few
minutes they changed their mind and pointed to a sheet that was stained
pink. I was told to pay 600 Baht for this sheet. I argued that my
sheets had holes from smokers of which i did not complain. And here
they are accusing me of staining their sheet. They would only want
to refund 1400 Baht, charging 600 Baht for the sheet. They finally
reduced this amount to 200 baht. I wanted to keep the sheet so that
they could not steal money from other guests. They refused. I m most
disappointed with this scam! |

Pros about Grand Tower Inn Rama VI: Newer hotel. We stayed in the
executive suite triple (came with one large bed and one smaller bed.)
Enclosed parking if you have a car/rental. Next door are a couple
of restaurants and a laundry place -- 12 pieces for 35 baht. The hotel
spa & pool are nice and fairly priced (about $3 to use the spa each
day) CONS: Had to ask for microwave day of arrival even though it
was supposed to already be in the room. Con #2: Location - not as
close to Chatuchat Weekend Market and airport as you d think from
the write-up...you cannot walk it - takes about 15-30 minutes drive
time for each depending on time of day. Con #3: Many days, only got
amenities like towels for two instead of triple. Con #4: They nickel
& dime you for everything. When I checked out, they charged me for
a small plastic tray and 3 small drinking glasses that they claimed
should have been in the room. They also charged me when my 2 local
family members visited the room -- assuming they stayed overnight
-- when in fact they were just visiting. The hotel manager came to
our room CHRISTMAS night of all days to report that we were to be
charged extra for the visitors. They really made us feel bad. Poor
timing -- it ruined our Christmas family holiday together. I would
try another hotel given how they nickeled and dimed me -- checkout
took over 30 minutes. I tried to explain but the language barrier
was hard for them -- almost missed my flight because of the hotel.
Last CON: there are only 2 elevators -- and 90% of time - you wait
5 to 10 minutes to use it. If there s a medical emergency -- you will
be in trouble with this delay. Older folks and those with health issues
should avoid this hotel as a precaution in my opinion. I was worried
as I travelled with mother who has a heart condition. Note that I
have travelled to Bangkok four times now, and have tried other hotels
there. My judgement is based on other Thai hotels, and I think Grand
Tower Inn Rama VI is more for Korean group travel who are there for
quick stops. |

The Grand Tower Inn on Rama 6 is a short taxi ride (100thb) from the
centre and is situated around a pleasant 15 minute walk away from
the BTS Skytrain (which is a very useful and cheap way to get around
the suburbs of Bangkok (although I did find myself getting a Tuck
Tuck or taxi bike to cover this distance from time to time which only
cost between 10 - 20thb)max. Turn right out of the hotel and take
the first roght folowing the road all the way to the top. There you
will find the Skytrain overhead and can go either left or right. Ari
seems ther most popular choice and costs around 25 - 30thb per journey. The
Hotel is also not far from the excellent Chatachack market which I
thoroughly recommend! The Hotel itself is well maintained and should
you have a problem it is dealt with efficiently and quickly, (although
when phoning down to reception, I did find myself being passed around
on occasion to someone who had a better grasp of English - but this
isn t necessarily a criticism! The main bulk of visitors at this hotel
(atleast when I stayed) were Asian - Korean, Japanese etc and this
was reflected quite noticably in the breakfast menu which although
quite extensive, had a minimalistic approach to western tastes. However,
I found that one of the three cerals on offer along with some eggs
and french toast proved more than adiquate for the seven days that
I stayed. As for the romms they were both clean and tidy and quite
modern and having 23 floors, offer excellent views of the city. They
have a pool on the roof too, which is much better than ground level
as it prohibits noise quite satisfactorly. In short, this is good
hotel for first time visitors to stay in and I found everyone to be
helpful, including the taxi operators out front, who will always make
sure that the driver knows exactly where you want to go as they don
t always speak any english. Never had any problems though! Good Hotel
- go stay! |

Very nice. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Daily breakfast buffet
was plenty and very delicious. Staff service was excellent. Only drawback
is location - you need to take a taxi there from the nearest skytrain
or subway station. |

The Grand Tower Inn was much better than what was advertised on the
net. Good points: Staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. Service
was prompt and efficient. When we checked into our room we found that
there wasn t a microwave oven as promised when we made the booking.
One was sent to our room within minutes! On the second day, there
was an electrical fuse which knocked out the microwave oven and the
bathroom light. The technician came and fixed the problem within minutes!
Room is spacious and nice, and bathroom is clean. Negative points:
For a hotel this size (over 20 floors of rooms) only TWO medium-sized
lifts are available to ferry guests. It took us AGES to get to the
lobby in the morning as the lift stopped at practically EVERY floor
to pick up guests. And woe begone if you forgot something and had
to go back to your room!!! I shudder to think what can happen if there
was an emergency and we have to be evacuated by the lifts!!! The other
negative aspect of this hotel is that the moment you arrive, you have
to climb a couple of steep flights of steps to get to the lobby. Not
very people-friendly, I m afraid! I feel for those elderly who have
heart or leg problems. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this hotel
to others. |

This is my second visit to Thailand and on both occassion stayed in
Grand Tower Inn. We re very satisfied with our room which is clean
and spacious. The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. Hotel facilities
are good; gym is located on the 23rd floor and have a spectacular
view of Bangkok skyline. We ll definitely stay at GTI if we re visiting
Bangkok again. |

Nothing can beat this hotel for the price. While it is a little away
from downtown, we liked being where we were. The staff was helpful
in assisting us in finding some nice places to visit and eat. The
swimming pool on the roof was fun as well. Thanks so much. |
