Comsaed River Kwai Resort & Spa - Kwai Yai
This is a well appointed hotel set in beautiful gardens right on the river. The restaurant was above average and the prices reasonable. The staff were particularly friendly and went out of their way to organise an affordable driver for us. The hotel is out of town but incredibly peaceful and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet relaxing time and/or trips to the Bridge, Museums and Tiger Temple.

Duenshine Resort - Thamakham
The price (1650 baht) is very steep considering that the room is very basic and the location not very convenient. Similar rooms could be had for 150-290 baht at say, Jolly Frog at the guesthouse strip along Th Mae Nam Khwae. That being said, the location could be a plus point if all you want is a restful holiday away from the bars of Th Mae Nam Khwae. Unlike the deadwater section of guesthouses at Th Mae Nam Khwae, the river here actually FLOWS. Not likely to stay here again.

Legacy River Kwai Resort - Dan Makham Tia
The grounds of this resort are very beautiful. The bungalows are large & very quiet allowing the sounds of the sourrounding jungle to be heard which was great. However, they are a little tired & the beds are very soft. Breakfast was poor. This resort is a good 30-35 minutes drive from town by car which costs 400 bt each way. This needs to be considered when booking as it makes eating out more expensive. Staying in the resort in the evening is only for people who like to listen to resident band (not so good!) & noisy people. Whilst situated on the river bank, there is no quiet area. It also advertises a floating restaurant but it was not in operation when we were there. Tours are also a problem - the tour companies charge high prices to collect from here. The pool is small but nice. We only used it for a short while but our peace was shattered when a large & noisy tour group arrived. To sum up, beautiful resort in gorgeous location but I would not return.

Pavilion Rim Kwai Resort - Kwai Yai
I have been twice in the resort because of its location. I went to Kanchanaburi to buy rocks and stones and the resort is conveniently located. However the resort seems to be run down a litle. The prices are at the high side for what they offer. The park is beautiful. The food is awful. One should avoid to eat there for dinner or lunch. The breakfast is OK.

Phatad Valley Hotel - Thongpaphum
We were the only guests in this BIG place. CheckIn took a while: the deskclerck probably had never done that before. He was also the waiter in the (deserted) restaurant and the bell boy. Nobody spoke English. The fine looking hotel lies very isolated and is a bit worn out. We felt unaesy although there went nothing wrong. Parking space was excellent; we had the only car.

Pung-Waan Kwai Noi Resort - Saiyoke
Very nice hotel. The location was great. We stayed in a 6 person floating house and it was perfect for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 small kids). The kids had fun in the pool and the playground (which was quite large). I would definitely recommend this hotel for the cost and benefits.

Pung-Waan Kwai Yai Resort - Kwai Yai
We stayed there second time. The hotel is very nice and daytimes very quiet and you only hear birds. We were the only guests over the daytime. At first night it was also very quiet in the hotel. Second night, there was a big group of japanese people, and you could forget the quiet atmosphere....shouting people into the deep night all over the hotel. The rooms are nice and clean, the bathroom is ok, the garden is very nice and the pool was for us two alone .-) The breakfast was ok, but the restaurant was not so clean as last time we stayed there. Very dirty tableclothes...no go..urgh..on the day we lost hotel, the gardener was spraying poison against mosquitos...they had forgotten, that there were persons and we two guests in the hotel?????????????? Crazy smoke...stinking situation.... But for that all, the staff was friendly and helpfull and we would enter this hotel again, when we are on a trip throuh Thailand.

River Kwai Botanic Garden - Kwai Noi
When i booked this hotel I had no idea just how far away it was from Kanturburi or how difficult it would be to get to, whether you come by train or bus its a full days journey to get there from Bangkok. The mile walk to the pier which you have to do if you come by bus in blistering heat just about finished us off. The hotel itself is basic, no heating, no hot water, but its pretty and the location is stunning. The all inclusive was a nice surprise so actually its good value. The food wasnt good, rice with pick and mix food, same for lunch and dinner. No choice you get what you are given. The local dancing isnt that great idea so pass on that one. The trips were the most expensive we experienced in Thailand so we didnt do them, about three times the price per person which was a great shame. Any more than two nights and your going to go crazy here. We came by bus and went back by train, the death railway was great and humbling, but they are going to charge you 500 bht taxi to get there. The extras here were expensive and there is no choice, its too remote to go else where.

River Kwai Hotel - Muang
Overall the hotel was good although it could do with an update. The pool was really nice, a good size and the breakfast more than suffient. The hotel is away from the main restaurants but they have reasonably priced food and entertainment. Bikes can also be hired to allow you to visit the sights and it is close to the bus station and tourist information. Would use again.

River Kwai Resotel - Saiyoke
This was our forth stay at the River Kwai Resotel. The resort is set in amazing gardens along the River Kwai with majestic mountains on both sides of the resort. We love this resort as it is the perfect place to relax and unwind and a getaway from the city. The resort is well situated for various activities and visits such as: the Lawa cave, elephant riding, rafting, a visit to the Mon village, the Saiyok National Park and waterfalls, the Erawan National park and waterfall, the Hellfire Museum, etc. Taking a ride in a longtail boat on the river to and from the resort is a lot of fun. The bungalows are very comfortable and well appointed in Thai style. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We look forward to our next visit to the Resotel.

You should only take hotel package (2d/1n or 3d/2n) b4 you leave bangkok. Nothing different from other hotels except for Raft House. You should only stay in Raft house.

Royal Riverkwai Resort & Spa - Kwai Yai
This hotel is just fabulous with a view and river location to die for. It s set about 15 minutes drive outside of Kachanaburi town, so you have to take that into account when booking, but it is worth every second of the drive. The hotel rooms are quite basic but lovely, although we were slightly dissapointed with the bathroom - our shower didn t work properly during one of the evenings - and the bathroom itself was more basic then we d have hoped. Having said that, it really didn t matter and we loved the room. The service in the hotel and hotel restaurant is exceptional although we were less impressed with the food - we did stay out of season, so some of the food wasn t available, but our food wasn t as nice as restaurants outside of the hotel and it was obviously more expensive. We would definitely come back to this hotel but perhaps in high season when there are a few more people around to give it more of an atmosphere.
