Never again !! We stayed for less than an hour. First of all we had
been told that we could call when we arrived at Thong Sala, and that
somebody would come and pick us up by boat. Only nobody answered the
phone. We therefore ended up taking a taxi, by road, and had to carry
our luggage all the way down the 400 steps to the resort. Arriving
VERY sweaty, we were greeted by a nice smiling women, who exused that
they hadn t turned on their cell-phone ... We were showned to our
room, which I must say was very nice and clean, took a shower and
went to the restaurant for a welcome-drink. We here had the honour
of meeting the owner himself. A swiss mid-aged shaking freak, surrounded
by a cloud of marijuana smoke, ( strange in a country where this could
end up with life in prison ), who didn t seem to care much about our
arrival at all. His wife told us that she and her husband weren t
gonna stay for much longer and that they planned to take over a bigger
and better place nearby in a near futur. This could explain the lack
of interest but did not make us feel much better ... After the drink,
we went for a swim. Not only was the beach not very clean with trash
here and there, but they had forgotten to tell us about the corals
.... My wife s bleating hands was the last drop. We decided to leave
the resort. The owner got very unpleasant and could only care about
his money. His wife was the only one who proposed to help us with
the luggage and who came to wish us luck. It s sad, because the place
could be a little paradise. But it needs to be run by more serious
and service-minded people. If you do not like tourists, don t run
a resort ! We later found a very nice bungalow with fantastic nice
people running it, in Haad Rin. We had a great time, got to know a
lot of local people and ended up staying there for 2 weeks instead
of only 1 !! |

What a beautiful place! The owners, Beart and Koi, go out
of their way to treat guests as family and are always courteous and
helpful. The Isaan suite is the best room (this doesn t mean the others
are bad!) with sweeping views over the beach, sea and sunsets. With
only 3 rooms, the place is never crowded and you almost feel as if
you have the whole place to yourselves. Access to the hotel from the
road above is difficult with luggage (353 steps) and it s about 1.5
km along the beach so it s best to email Beart to ask him to pick
you up in his longtail boat from Had Rin pier when you arrive (or
get a water taxi for about 150-200 baht - it s just after the biggest
boulder on the left as you come into the pier, about 1.5 km along)
- note that this can only be done at high tide as it s got to be able
to clear the coral reef about 50 metres offshore. Equally, plan your
ferry exit from Phangaan to go at or after high tide to allow you
to get to the pier by boat (only five minutes). The walk into or from
Had Rin (without luggage) along the beach is pleasant and doesn t
take long at all - Beart will lend you torches for after dark. Scooters
and jeeps are available from a hotel up the beach towards Had Rin
(look for signs) and are best left there at the end of the day unless
you want to do the steps down and up again in the morning. The food
(made by Koi, although Beart claims credit for some dishes!) is delicious
and the furnishing of the rooms excellent. All in all, thoroughly
recommended for a relaxing stay in what feels like a pice of paradise
and far better than anything elase we saw in Had Rin. |

I cannot speak highly enough of this place, it was as near to paradise
as we could get. The place is quiet, maybe too isolated for some,
but Beart the owner was more than happy to take us about by boat.
The private beach was beautiful and the cooking by Koi was out of
this world - by far the best we had whilst in Thailand. I would thoroughly
recommend Baan Tammachaad. |

this hotel was a great place to kick back and relax. It is a place
that is a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Haad Rin but still
close enough that you can walk there in about 25min. Here you have
all the modern conviences that you could ask for. the views are great.
the Owners are super friendly. They have very clean and modern rooms.
definatly a great place to stay when you want to get away from it
all. |
