We had a great time. Neal is awesome and the staff are really cool.
They ll even write the hotel name and room number on your arm if you
stay during a full moon party to make sure you can remember where
to come back to that night. Definitely recommend! |

during the full moon party everyplace is a bit overpriced thus overall
the price is relatively reasonable. the rooms are big, clean, aircon,
but no TV or fridge, curtains, linen etc are basic but clean. the
safety deposit at reception is a shared safe ie every rooms valuables
put in one safe with key held by hotel - i left a lot of cash which
i was worried about but it was all fine. the staff are v helpful and
friendly. the other guests tended to be student types. on the road
its a long walk to the party but by walking to the beach its only
5 to 7 minutes walk. its a good place to stay if you want value for
money, and want to be close to full moon party but still far enough
away to have a bit of peace and quiet. |

We were looking forward to this little piece of paradise after reading
reviews online. We have strong suspicions that the positive reviews
written about this hotel are the work of an english speaking owner
or a tourist who was paid to post them. This place is beyond terrible.
Located on a far and deserted part of Haad Rin, dirty and worst of
all- overpriced. They misrepresent themselves online and charge prices
that are exhuberant for this island. You will be sorely disappointed
upon arrival (as we were) but will be forced to stay 3 nights around
the full moon party (the only time this hotel has any guests... I
saw their booking calendar during our stay). For the amount they charged
(about 70USD, very expensive for Haad Rin), we expected a nice room
with all ameneties. Instead, we got a dirty room with an airconditioner
that we could not control, a large towel for a blanket ( I kid you
not!) and no tv. The only toiletries offered were dingy towels and
rolls of toilet paper. The room was reachable by 3 staircases, and
there was no one to help carry the luggage. Upon arrival, our toilet
seat had pee stains on it . The beach is dirty and unswimmable (large
coral reef) and the distance to the busy sunrise beach is way more
than the 10 minutes posted in the hotel description. |

In my opinion this hotel was terrible. Not what we were looking for
anyway. Built on hillside so loads of stairs. Beach area was dirty
as was check-in area. Did not stay. Went to Phangan Spa Resort a few
hundred meters down the road. Approximately the same price and far
superior. Would recommend this hotel as a better option to Vimarn. |

Great location on a nice and quite beach, 15 minute walk from all
the craziness of Hadrin (if you are there around the Full Moon), so
it s close to all the action, but quite and chill. The family/people
that run this place are the nicest you ll meet, and make the overall
stay enjoyable (great Thai cooking as well). Be aware however, that
this is definetly not a resort . The quality of both the rooms and
the ammenites are more similar to a hostel. And the guests, although
mature and respectful (relative to some of the other places in Hadrin),
are mostly made up of backpackers or travelers, with very few long-term
vacationers. If you are used to or looking for a resort type atmosphere,
this is probably not the place for you. However,if you don t mind
very basic, hostel-type accomodations, than this place is great. |

With the risk of Samut becoming a crowded place I definitely can endorse
this hotel as the cosiest and friendliest place on Ko Phagnan. Rooms
are spacy and good with great sea views. It s a laid back resort with
a fine terrace and good food. Enjoy the music and catch a movie, you
even won t have to go to Had Rin beach. |

I really enjoyed the stay at this hotel. Rooms were clean, quiet and
with a very nice view. A great extra service was the free taxi to
Haad Rin. For the future, it would be great, if also ferry tickets
and trips (e.g. to Ang Thong Marine Nationalpark) could be ordered
at the hotel reception! |

This was a lovely place to stay. It s a 15 minute walk/2 minute drive
from the main town in Haad Rin, which is preferable to being in town,
if you don t want to be surrounded by full moon partying tourists!
The open eating/lounging area has a gorgeous view on the beach and
you feel an immediate sense of relaxation when you sit down. The manager
(owner?) is there every day ( Mu sp?), she speaks fluent English and
she is lovely - really looks after you and makes you feel at home.
She can arrange a free car to the town (you have to get a taxi back)
or she ll get you a reliable taxi to other places on the island. All
rooms have an ocean view and, when you walk out of your room, you
have a view of the gorgeous tree-lined mountain across the road. The
rooms are nice, clean, though no telephone or tv. However there are
a good collection of DVDs and LOVELY RELAXING CDS (played softly in
the evening) in the open lounge area. There are roosters and hens
wandering around under trees(a nice touch - they don t bother you).
I m sure they produce the eggs for your pad thai dish! I would really
recommend it for your full moon party stay, but more specifically
for people who are NOT crazy partiers who want a relaxing island stay,
but also want access to the town. The prices outside of the party
time are almost half. The beach is too shallow for swimming, but other
beaches are in walking distance (apparently, you can walk to the town
along the beach, though a taxi is recommended for nighttime). Or they
also have lilos for floating in the ocean. Though we weren t there
for long, we took an excursion to the elephant trekking on the north
of the island. However, I would recommend trying the trekking on a
different island instead. The trekking place was apparently fairly
new. The elephants take you up a steep hill, which is obviously really
hard for them and the trekker yells at the elephant all the way up.
Even though the view was lovely of the mountains, we asked to turn
around after about 5 mins and asked if we could just hang out with
the elephants instead. We saw another group of tourists that had completed
the trek and one girl was crying - presumably another animal lover
that felt the animals were not happy. Hanging out with the baby elephant
instead was lovely - he does lots of tricks, but again, you feel he
has probably been punished as well as rewarded to do the tricks. There
are a bunch of elephant trekking places on Koh Samui, (island south
of Koh Phangan) and some of these must have elephant trekking along
flat ground (around waterfalls, judging by maps) But all in all, I
HIGHLY recommend staying at Vimarn Samut. |

So friendly! The personnel were more than great. The room was clean
with a good standard. If you visit Vimarn Samut Resort in late summer
the beach are not the best (low water), but it's only 10-15 minutes
walk to Haad riin beach so why complain?. |
