Ao Prao Resort
I love this place, even in the rainy season, which it definitely was. We got a fantastic rate because it s the off-season and the hotel s pool was closed for construction (who cares when you ve got the whole ocean to swim in?) The only downer was that there was noticeably more trash on beach after the tides. We saw none of this two years ago (though the sea was perfectly calm then). I really love the little island and I hate to see become polluted.

A nice resort, room is cosy. Staff reacted to request promptly and were helpful. It is a good experience living in a bunglaro rather than in a traditional hotel. It gives a different feel.

Hinsuai-Namsai Resort Hotel
We stayed at the hotel a few days while looking for a house to buy in the area. The location was good for the purpose and they have a clean pool area with a wonderful view of the bay. The hotel is rather isolated and up a steep hill so it is almost impossible to walk to other places you have to use the hotel van. We got a enormous room with separate livingroom and bedroom. The room wasn?t very clean and especially not the bathroom. We asked for a babycot and they brought it but made the bed with only a sheet on the wooden base so they don?t seem used to children at the hotel. The hotel is manly used for different convents for Thai companies and organizations this affects the breakfast, some days a big buffe other days a few thai breakfast alternatives and one day served at the table. The restaurant should be avoided!!! Expensive compared to the hotelrooms and adding the tax and service charge. We also got food poisoning from one meal and had to spend too much time in the not so clean bathroom. Thay also overcharge for taxiservice to other places like Bangkok. So for a one or two day stop for business the hotel is ok for the money but not for a vacation or longer stay and you should have your transportations arranged from another place.

The hotel is ok, but be aware there is nothing near the hotel in the way of restaurants etc. Also the hotel has a car you can book to take you to nearby shopping centres etc, but the twice we used it we had to keep calling the hotel to ask why we hadn t been picked up, the first time it was one hour late and the second time we gave up waiting after 45 minutes and took a local taxi back to the hotel.

Le Vimarn Cottages and Spa
We normally stay on the opposite side of Ao Prau beach but we will keep coming back to Le Vimarn. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the bedding is so soft!! The pool itself is worth the extra money. Also, the little extras like a DVD player in the room make the price worth it. Also, the beach is much better at this end. The restaurant is quite pricey though but it is not mandatory to eat there.

Malibu Garden Resort
DO NOT STAY HERE! I stupidly ignored all the other comments left by other people, I wish I hadn t! In a nutshell the staff are very, very miserable. Unhelpful and generally look cheesed off with it all. I had the deluxe room which was extrememly overpriced at 2600 baht per night. The place is dirty and the breakfast even though it goes on until 10.30, everything had run out at 9.50am and they didn t seem keen to put anymore food out. Try the Silver Sands resort futher up the beach. Great reviews from there.

Mooban Talay Resort
Although a nice resort, it is not worth the money spent. It is a nice quiet area, but the 4 to 5K baht that they charge is just too expensive. The resort itself closes at 10pm (didn t mention this when we dropped off our keys, so came home at 10.30 to a closed reception without our room keys...), there are no tv s in the rooms, no bathtub, just the private outdoor shower (not always convenient when it rains) and generally there is just not much to do at or around the resort. The food at the restaurant, although not bad, is too expensive for what you get, and better food can be had much cheaper at other parts of the island. Has to be said that the service of the staff is generally good and friendly. The resort is far away from the main bar/restaurant area at Had Sai Kiew/Ao Phai, and with a taxi between 200 and 300 baht 1 way, it s inconveniently located if you don t want to spend the whole day at the resort and not spend a big chunk of your budget on taxi fares. All in all just not worth the expenses. Would consider going again if they would lower their prices with 2/3rd.

Nice Beach Hotel
No one at reception can speak English so do not expect any help unless you can find the one maid who speaks some English. There are no services available near hotels on this stretch of beach between Rayong and Ko Samet. No buses either. It is quiet but beache is not kept clean. There are a couple of primitive stores where water can be bought and a couple of small local eating places, but nothing else. Private taxis are only available if you pre arrange through hotel or have your own contacts in Rayong or Ban Phe, the departing harbor town for Ko Samet. The hotel s one computer is coin operated and the connection is so slow you waste half your money getting connected. Even when it does not work I was not offered my ten bahts returned. While the young Thai staff are nice and eager to please, the Thai lady owner merely smiles and shakes her head, saying no to any question asked her. English speaking TV channels consist of BBC, Star Movies, and Discovery. The hotel restaurant is mediocre. The free breakfast consisted of one hard, crisp fried egg and fried lunchmeat, with instant coffee. Enjoy!

Nimmanoradee Hotel
The rooms were lovely, very clean and the air con was very efficient. The views were spectacular, the staff very friendly and helpful. Food was simple, but good, and there was plenty of choice. The beach is not the best on the island - very small and quite rocky, but much better when the tide is in. We would definitely return, as it s so peaceful.

P.M.Y. Beach Resort
This hotel is absolutely nothing like the pictures shown on the website. The hotel itself is old, run down, little security and not all that clean. I checked and checkout in 30 minutes and paid for the night just to get away. I checked on the Novotel 40 minutes away and it was well worth the trip. Do not be fooled by the pictures on the website. This is an old run down hotel on a horrible beach!

Paradee Resort & Spa
Just returned from a couple of wonderful days at Paradee. Stayed in a beachfront villa w/pool. Lovely bedroom/livingroom, fantastic bathroom and the private pool area is just the place to relax both during the dau and in the evening. The beach is stunning. The service at the restaurant is second to none and the resort even have a small, but decent gym. The roomservice works great, and we enjoyed the complimentary afternoon tea. Agreed, the speedboat ride is pricey but we enjoyed it. Cannot recommend Paradee enough. Be aware there is not much to do for children, but the place is awesome for couples.

Phala Cliff Beach Resort and Spa
Staffs are very nice. Room is very good, sea wind everytime. Sand and beach are very bad, and very dirty. You have to swim in swimming pool rather than in the sea. Hotel food are good and not expensive, compare to outsider s. If you want to take a rest and enjoy sea air, this is your choice. If you want exciting, or swimming in the sea, you should choose another place.

Purimas Beach Hotel
The rooms are large, clean and well furnished with a sea view and a balcony. Breakfast is a good mix of both Western and Asian, and food at the restaurant is tasty and reasonably priced. It s a great place to relax and to wind down, but not if you re looking for excitement, shopping or night life.

Nice staff. The rooms were clean but to much ceramics if you have children who like their sound. We had a bad view into an other bungalow and a bunch of mosquitos. I will choose another place to stay next time on Koh Samet.
