This is a very nice resort, with an exceptional beach and water at
your doorstep. While the rooms are pretty basic and in need of refurbishment
(this is already underway), they are comfortable and clean and the
resort facilities and surrounds make up for this. The Satay Sunset
Bar at the top of the hill is great for a late afternoon drink while
watching the sun set over Phuket and the Andaman Sea. We had a brief
look at the other 3 resorts in the immediate vicinity and must say
that unless you have deep pockets to afford the 5-star Zeavola Resort
then the Holiday Inn is the definite pick. You can hire a long tail
boat and driver for a couple of hours or the whole day at reasonable
prices and explore the snorkelling spots and beaches around Phi Phi
Don, head down to Phi Phi Lay or, as we did, explored Mosquito and
Bamboo Islands, just 20 minutes from the resort. Bamboo Island has
an excellent beach and is a great place to take a picnic lunch. You
just need to be out of there by around 1:00pm when the tour boats
pull in with hoards of life-jacketed snorkel bunnies. If you are planning
on staying on Phi Phi (and your definitely should to get the most
out of it) you really need at least 2 clear days (3 nights) minimum
to get the most out of your visit. A word of warning though; whatever
travel time they quote for the ferries that run between Phuket and
Phi Phi, double it. We left the Holiday Inn on the morning ferry at
7:30am and didn't arrive back at Phuket until 12:30pm. The biggest
delay was in Tonsai Bay where we waited for late connecting ferries
from all over the place it would seem, not to mention the tourists
that realised at the last minute that they were on the wrong boat.
A definite downside to an otherwise great visit! If you have the numbers
or the necessary cash, take a speed boat! Thanks to all the staff
at the Holiday Inn, especially Sven. Bake & Linda, Sydney Australia |

This was definately about a 3 or 3.5 star resort. I thought the price
was way to expensive and there policy on no cash to be used can also
bump up the price as you are always charging things on your card.
The meals and drinks were pricey and the massage is expensive and
not worth the money (we walked out). Definitely better places to stay
I think. Won t stay there again. |

I would recommend this resort to anybody wanting a beautiful relaxing
holiday, the staff are very helpful and always smiling, rooms and
facilities are very good, NO TV s in the rooms which for me was good.
the resturant and all meals are excellent especially the breakfast.
We loved the snorkelling around the coral which is just off the beach
and the equipment was supplied free by the sports centre. Excellent
service throughout. I m going back ASAP. |

We stayed at Holiday Inn Phi Phi for 5 nights and enjoyed every minute
of it. The accommodation was fantastic, the staff are so helpful and
courteous, epsecially Jay at the Mong Thalay Bar. Just a short stroll
down the beach you ll find other restaurants if you get tired of the
food and entertainment at the resort. Easy to get to Ton Sai Bay for
shopping when you feel like mingling with society again. We will definitely
stay here again. |
