The Old Phuket Hotel, Karon Beach
I would recomend this hotel to other travelers and it is excellent value for money and is far cheaper than the other hotels located near it i.e. the Hilton and Moevenpick Resort. The rooms are lovely and the bathroom is OK apart from the fact that it is not tiled around the shower/bath and the plaster has gone black in places. The locations of the hotel is great, it is set back behind the beach road (as are all of the hotels in Karon) and is about 100 m to the beach. there are 2 pools both located on the roofs of each of the wings. We oly visited the pool area in our wing and it was lovely. There are a row bars and restaurants on a small archade in front of the hotel and then it is only a very pleasent 10 minute walk in either direction to many bars/shops and restaurants located at either end of Karon beach. The beach is very nice and is extremely clean; It is quite wide and the sea is deep enough to swim in and the tide doesn t go out very far. Overall I am happy with the choice I amde with regards to this hotel, and this resort (Karon Beach) as having driven through Patong on numerous occasions I can say that Karon was far nicer.

Good in hotel: small hotel near to a beach, beautiful pure rooms, the friendly personnel. The bad: balconies opposite each other, cleaning in number during inconvenient time, the bad account - for a can of beer from a minibar to me was necessary to pay twice, a poor breakfast. The sea on beach ???? is delightful.

Chedi Phuket, Pansea Beach
Beautiful resort all in all. There are lots of steps, especially if you get a room right on the beach like we had. The rooms are a bit old. They need paint and some furniture replacements. Not a spotless clean room but we had a great time there. The beach is private and gorgeous. The best service was the nightly shuttle to Patong Beach that was offered complimentary. Patong Beach is almost a 30 minute drive from the Chedi.

Deevana Patong Resort & Spa, Patong Beach
We had a great stay at Deevana. The hotel grounds are beautiful. We really enjoyed cocktails by the pool. The breakfast was great too. Our room was simple, but comfortable - like a beach house.

Manathai Resort, Surin Beach
I stayed 3 nights at Manathai in Phuket. We were upgraded to a suit which was just off one of the 2 pools. We had a sitting room and bedroom and very small bath. The room was attractive but had too many decorative objects taking space that a traveler needs for suitcase, toiletries, etc. Also there was no task lighting, just very dim lamps in the bedroom and sitting room. I needed a flashllight to find things in my suitcase after dark. All the rooms are different, so that problem may not be encountered in other rooms. The breakfast was excellent, the ocean beach club was convenient and well staffed and the public areas were nicely furnished in a traditional thai manner. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The happy hour complimentary snacks were excellent. I would stay there again but would ask to look at a couple of rooms before deciding.
