The hotel was very busy when we stayed. Sunbeds were jammed together
and you had to get your towel down at 8:30 in order to get one. The
pool area is too small for the capacity of the hotel. This hotel is
also full of mainly swedes with families of five being the norm. We
were on the 4th floor and with no lift it was pretty hard work going
up and down with small children. The configuration of the rooms was
also strange as to get to the room next door but one on the same floor
(in our case my parents) we had to go down to the ground floor and
then back up again! The rooms were adaquate although when we reported
faults they weren t rectified during our stay. It is well worth taking
the five minute walk to the beach which is beautiful and also very
safe for children, much better than the packed poolside. You can also
get very good food and drinks there, better quality and value than
the hotel. |

The hotel is fine if you have kids, I wouldn t stay there if you didn
t. It is very much set up for Swedish guests and if you re not Swedish
then you re very much overlooked. The kids club is only for Swedish
kids and not conducted in English so is pretty useless for non-Swedish
speakers. The other criticism is that the music from the restaurant,
or entertainment at night is so loud and for absolutely no reason.
Overall the staff are pleasant but do cater mainly for Swedish families.
The rooms are big and functional, bathrooms are small and need updating.
All in all, it s fine, just a standard family resort. |

We (family of 4)were there for 5 days & stayed in the 2 bedroom suite.
The facilities were very nice, service was excellent. Our son, aged
4yrs really enjoyed the pool and play area. The buffet breakfast was
excellent, but the menu as a whole we felt was a little bland and
lacking a Thai influence, and finesse. For example, the pizza that
we ordered (first one on the menu) was very bland, I don t think any
Italian spices had been added. There were however, many dishes to
choose from with our occasional stomache problems due to travel in
other areas of Asia. |

Very nice resort. Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel well maintained.
On the negative side there is no English language news channel and
the mini-mart does not carry newspapers. Nevertheless, when the sun
goes down, it is a rather pleasant 20 minute walk along the beach
to Kamala village. The rooms are all suites and have bedrooms and
kitchens, consequently it is ideal for families with children. If
you are not a child friendly person and want a quite time by the pool,
you won t find it here. Nevertheless, we had an excellent stay at
Kamala Bay Garden, would definitely stay there again, and would recommend
it to others. |

Overall, we were pleased with our room. It was clean and spacious,
and the beds were comfortable. Our room overlooked the pool, which
was lovely. A family oriented resort. The buffet was plentiful. Alas,
the service at the bar left much to be desired, as well as the room
service. Note: there are no elevators in this 4 storey resort, so
request a ground floor room if stairs are an issue. There is a beach
on the other side of the highway, about a 10 min. walk. Kamala village
is much further but walkable. The resort can arrange a taxi for you
at reasonable rates. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay at
this resort again. |

We stayed at the Kamala Bay Garden Resort for a week, during Chinese
New Year. Our family consists of twin boys, aged two, a four year
old girl and late 40 s parents. I generally found all of the other
comments very honest and forthright. For example, the patio is huge,
the size of one of the bedrooms and has a drying rack, at least ours
did on second floor. The drying rack came in handy every day with
up to 10 bathing suits. The bedrooms and living room each had their
own individual air conditioning system so we could set the temperatures
as liked. The suite included a huge living room with a daybed. It
was set back too far from the television to be useful for watching
much at night, but still offered a place to sit. The walk to the beach
is about 5 minutes with little kids. We took a stroller about 90%
of the way, and then parked by a tree. The kitchenette was clean and
included most utensils. We cooked pasta once and had all the things
necessary to do so. There was no microwave, which we saw as a big
lacking item. Would have traded the stovetop for that easily. The
housekeeping was efficient and washed up the dishes too. There is
room service too, but it seems a little limited with an unusually
large number of European or otherwise non-Thai/Asian menu items. There
is a good selection of kids items though and the macarroni and meatballs
were popular with all our kids. A couple of areas of concern we had
included the obvious catering to large groups of Swedish tourists.
This cropped up when we asked about putting our daughter in the kid
club and were told it was only available to Scandanavian children!
Another disappointment was the breakfast buffet, which was included
in the room price. By the end of the week I didn t even want to go
down. Our Nestle Red Cup instant coffee was stronger, the omelette
line was too slow for us to consider, the high chairs were dirty,
not cleaned between meals and had peeling paint and fibreboard. Finally,
even with three kids of our own, we were close to being overwhelmed
with the numbers of children at the resort. Anyone hoping to escape
for a few days and not hear screaming or be splashed at the pool should
think twice. This is a place that caters specifically to families
with children. We appreciated that but could never recommend someone
without kids consider it. But these are minor points above in terms
of families with kids. The combination of the pools, which are sparkling
clean [a small miracle given the huge numbers of kids swimming in
them] and Kamala beach and bay, [which are picture perfect] are an
awesome combination. There are also two minimarts located 20 steps
from the entrance, independent taxis a few more feet, places selling
all the pool/beach gear you d want for kids. Three minutes away by
car, or a 15 minute walk, are a couple of pharmacies and even a clinic
which I went to one night with a sick child. Kamala town is almost
fully rebuilt, but you don t feel anything of the tsunami at the resort
or at the beach. Other than the few suggestions I noted above, we
had no complaints about our stay. Also, we took a stick-on type kiddie
lock to put on the sliding patio doors. When we left it popped of
and didn t hurt the metal finish at all. Also took a couple of door
knob covers, all of which worked fine to make sure the kids didn t
get into anythign they shouldn t. With the pools being a couple steps
away from the lower floor patios, I d really recommend a stick-on
kiddie lock. |

Great apartment sized rooms(kitchen a bonus)Huge pool with kids slide, but
not supervised. Good buffet breakfast. Short walk back along beach
into Kamala Bay town about 10 minutes. Lovely in house spa treatments.
Be aware there is a lot of children there in holidays plus no lifts
so must use stairs or request way in advance a ground floor room..Some
staff were very friendly while others did not seem to notice you.
They do cater more for Northern European nations. All in all we had
a great holiday & would go back to this hotel again. |

The rooms were spacious with a balcony overlooking the very large
pool. The beach is very nice and not too crowded. The resort caters
to families with kids (the pool is a kids playground). We had some
communication problems with some of the staff on occasion, as they
had some problems understanding english at times. The Hotel is a little
isolated, as it was a taxi ride to most places (20 min ride to Patong
beach). |
