Serene Resort, Kata Beach
Hotel was quite good. A little frayed around the adges but clean, tidy & well presented. Serene resort was builing a escalator outside my room while I was there but hey half of Thailands hotels undergo reno s during the off season so I can t complain. At least the work was completed between 8.30am - 4.00pm. If you re aftre a cheap hotel that s good value for money this is the place

The hotel was better than we had expected it to be. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. I have no complaints. I would definitely stay at the Serene Resort again.

We had a pleasant stay at this quite big hotel when visiting Kata Beach. We booked via Internet and, well the pictures of the rooms are a bit more glamouros than they really were. Nice poolareas. Very friendly staff. Quite close to the beach (you have to walk through Kata center to reach it), but no seaview. 3/5.

We had a great time. Minutes from the beach, nice gardens and decent rooms. Everything was perfect but for problems with our safety box which took too long to solve. We recommend the hotel.

Although this hotel boasts good facilities, the nightly house band music running till 23:30 and blasted around the entire resort, makes for difficult sleep. Food is mediocre, drinks are expensive; we would not stay here again.

We were very pleasantly surprised with the hotel. There is a lot of traditional Thai decoration, and the rooms are clean and modern. The main pool has many palm trees and other interesting features, and there is also a smaller, more secluded pool. The breakfast spread is excellent, and the minibar not too expensive. Kata Yai beach is only 5 minutes walk away, and Kata Noi beach about 10 - both are beautiful. Immediately around the hotel there are numerous shops, restaurants, bars etc, but there are more in Kata centre which is 5 minutes in a taxi. If you are looking for more hectic nightlife, Patong is about 20 minutes away.

I was truly impressed with the landscaping of this hotel. The pool with it s waterfall adds a tropical touch to the rainforest-like setting. My room , a standard superior on the 2nd floor, was spacious and the beautiful Thai decor added to the flavor. The free breakfast buffet was pretty good with a number of options. The 5-10 minute stroll to the beach is pleasant & easy as you walk past the shops and cafes (except Kata has no sidewalks, you must be careful). Only slight flaws: Many of the front-desk staff spoke very limited English; the bathroom kept having these annoying mosquito-like insects flying around; and you must be very careful when walking off the hotel property onto the street as there are no sidewalks on this part of Kata (and since the driving is on right side like in London, you must be extra careful because immediately after you step off the property since there s a lot of bushes and shrubbery which can obscure your view of oncoming motorbikes and tuk-tuk traffic.). I would recommend staying here to anyone.
