Hotel, Phuket Town
S T Hotel is located in Phuket Town itself. We booked a supreme room
and the conditions are OK except the mini fridge is not working. The
room rate is reasonable compared with others. The restaurant is near
the lift lobby. It provides quite a variety of foods but some foods
are quite saltish. Cocktail lounge is just opposite to the lift lobby.
There is a piano and a small cafe which provides drinks like coffee
or tea.Night time, the hotel staff will switch on the plasma TV near
the lounge. Staff could hardly understand English except one who can
understand well. The karaoke is on 2nd floor, but not sure whether
the management is using it. I did see someone celebrating and singing
in the restaurant with the karaoke on. It takes about 45min to go
to Patong Beach, paying 300 baht for tuk tuk and 500 baht for the
aircon taxi. Atmosphere at the roads is quite poluted with diesel
smoke emitting from the vehicles. Amenities like shops and tourists
are usually found in Patong Town and the beach is just in front of
the shops. You can see traffic police trying to guide the heavy traffic
during peak hours, ocassionally he will blow his whistle. Locations
of shops are scattered all around Phuket Town. You can find furniture
shops, flower shops, foods stalls and sheds, quitar shop, paint shops,
flower nurseries and others. Most of the buildings are about 1 or
2-storey high with wires and poles line along the roads. There is
one exceptional building which stands out among the rest, that is
Central Festival. The prices of commodities in the shops are quite
expensive compared with our own, but the prices of foods are quite
reasonable. The taxi team is in league. No matter how you bargain
for the taxi price, at the end, it goes back to the leader and he
will quote the final price. Generally it is quite easy to find taxi
services every where. |

Don t let the pictures mislead you. The pictures were taken when the
hotel was young and pretty :) The hotel is not central, even not in
Phuket town. Tuktuk are hard to flag at this spot. The hotel is very
basic, rooms are shabby, reception stuff is really bad with English.
The restaurant staff however were very friendly. When we checked out,
they tried to double charge us for the stay. The bill seemed too high
to me, and it appeared that eventhough we booked and payed through
Sawadee.com, they still tried to charge us for the room. |

Great quality for the price. I especially liked the complimentary
continental breakfasts, and the excellent and reasonably priced laundry
service. All the hotel personnel were fantastic. Thank you. |

S.T. Hotel, Phuket Town
My stay at ST Hotel was wonderful. The receptionists on duty in the
day and night were efficient and were able to communicate with my
family and me in simple English. We were able to get them to call
transportation as well as get tips on places to eat easily. The food
was very good at the Captain Bush Restaurant. The staff were very
helpful and attentive to our needs. I would recommend this hotel to
others. I will also stay in this hotel when I visit Phuket again. |
