Talay Resort, Koh Samet, Ao Noi Na
Although a nice resort, it is not worth the money spent. It is a nice
quiet area, but the 4 to 5K baht that they charge is just too expensive.
The resort itself closes at 10pm (didn t mention this when we dropped
off our keys, so came home at 10.30 to a closed reception without
our room keys...), there are no tv s in the rooms, no bathtub, just
the private outdoor shower (not always convenient when it rains) and
generally there is just not much to do at or around the resort. The
food at the restaurant, although not bad, is too expensive for what
you get, and better food can be had much cheaper at other parts of
the island. Has to be said that the service of the staff is generally
good and friendly. The resort is far away from the main bar/restaurant
area at Had Sai Kiew/Ao Phai, and with a taxi between 200 and 300
baht 1 way, it s inconveniently located if you don t want to spend
the whole day at the resort and not spend a big chunk of your budget
on taxi fares. All in all just not worth the expenses. Would consider
going again if they would lower their prices with 2/3rd. |

Rooms were nice, clean and quiet. The staff was nice. The food was
good (fairly expensive on the island). The beach was only OK--no real
waves--and it is a long walk to a better beach. I would recommend
this hotel. |

I canNOT recommend this hotel. While the hotel is very nice, individual
bungalows at the beach and all such, there are several drawbacks:
1. Sandflies ! I got over a hundred bites still itching after a week
(and doctor visit to get steroid cream and anti-histamin) 2. High
season price, but I was the only guest !!! 3. Although est. 20 people
working there very slow service during dinner (esp. drinks) 4. Overall
some more maintenance necessary, especially the wood terraces and
such did not see paint or nuturing oil for years 5. Sea view bungalow
means that you can view the sea by looking at photos when you are
in your room. Only beachview bungalows are really nice. 6. The rooms
are way too small for the high price. Not even TV or radio. |

Very small hotel with small and old rooms, towels are not good, a
lot of mosquitos and insects at the beach. But stuff is very friendly
and restaurant is good. |

very charming and nice resort- we had a great time there! i would
recommand it for couples who want to spend a quiet and romantic time
together! transportation was no problem - you can rent a scooter to
go to diamond beach or you take a taxi! lima coco and ao phrao resort
are also nice but the beach is quite small there! |

The resort was pretty ok. I would recommend taking the deluxe bungalow
which is next to beach. The resort is located in the end of the beach
in the northern side of Koh Samet. The beach is good and very quiet.
Swimming pool area was good, however, the disadvantage was that the
sun goes behind the trees quite early in the afternoon, like 3:30
PM. Overall the location of hotel is not the greatest. It is about
20-30 minutes walk from the nearest village Na Dan. It was very difficult
to get transportation from the resort to the village. Also when coming
back the taxis were asking ridiculous high prices for returning (like
200 bath for 5 minutes drive). The restaurant was good. Only thing
we missed was nice barbeque on the beach. The biggest problem during
our stay were the insects and mosquitos. Most of the guests were bitten
quite badly. It is likely it is common problem all around Koh Samet
island. However, it would be good to have mosquito nets around the
bed. Last but not least - open-air shower was great experience! |
