Headland Villas, Taling Ngam Beach
We had a wonderful stay at Headland Villas - the villas are really
spacious and comfortable and the view is unbelievable. We were very
happy we had booked here away from the hustle and bustle of other
areas on the island which are easy enough to reach by renting a car
which can be organised through Meow the manager of Headland who can
t do enough for you. She is a fantastic manager who looks after her
guests like they are staying in her own home. The other staff are
also very nice and polite and go about their jobs without bothering
anyone. Thank you for giving us a memorable holiday. |

Taling Ngam is absolutely gorgeous. The beach at Taling Ngam is quiet
and nice for sun bathing and kayaking - a little too murky (not that
the water wasn t beautiful) for snorkeling though. Snorkel enthusiasts
should book a trip to koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan - the water there
is amazing. Lunch at Lom Talay at Le Meridien is wonderful on a clear
day - the restaurant s view is beautiful (although the views at the
Headland Villas premises are also great). The Headland Villas are
pretty much situated within the premises of Le Meridien Taling Ngam
(the villas sit right between the hillside and the beachside accomodations
of the resort); the well decorated rooms are very clean, spacious
and comfortable; though lacked amenities such as shampoo/conditioner,
hair dryers and iron/ironing boards. I would give the staff (including
the managress) a 6 out of 10. The kitchen is very clean and a breakfast
tray of fruits, breads and yogurts is provided daily. Lunch on the
villa s deck was nice (please note, villas 1 and 3 offer the best
views). The maid service was fine and the sheets and towels were changed
daily and were immaculate. The staff were friendly and accomodating
but not to the level that I ve experienced at other hotels/resorts
in Thailand where people really went above and beyond to satisfy their
guests. The managress Khun Meow was friendly, but hard to get a hold
of. She was out often and this became a problem as many activities
required at least one days notice to book. Please go on to samui websites
to see the variety of tours and activities available because Khun
Meow was incapable of making many suggestions. She did, however, help
us charter a speedboat to Koh Nang Yuan for about $500 (U.S.) for
an entire day - very good deal considering the speed boat was large
enough to accomodate 25 people and the trip to Koh Nang Yuan was about
2 hours long each way. If you are a spa fanatic please do not take
Khun Meow s suggestion to have an in room hour massage for 500 bath
per person ($12.50 US) - the masseuse(s) are the same people that
give massages on Taling Ngam s beach and do not give massages that
are near the level of one from lincensed/trained masseuse(s) at many
of the terrific spas to be found in Thailand. I highly reccomend booking
a few spa treatments at Le Meridien s spa; it is truely a treat (hour
massages are roughly $40 US - great deal). The staff at Le Meridien
are wonderful - you will not be treated as second class compared to
the guests at their resort. However, please be advised that as a Headland
Villas guest, you will only be permitted to use the beachside pool
(there is a pool on the upper level of the resort by Lom Talay Restaurant
with wonderful views - sadly we were not able to use it). Overall
I would highly reccomend the Headland Villas for families and large
groups. The price is certianly right and the location is probably
one of the best on Koh Samui. |

We went for our honeymoon and was grateful that we booked at the Headland
Villas which was in a quieter area of the island at Baan Taling Ngam.
The villas were great, wonderful views into the ocean, HUGE bathroom
and comfortable furniture(except there was no TV in the bedroom, only
in the lounge) The amenities and breakfast at the next door ROyal
Meridien was great but the general food there was not up to scratch
for a 5 star hotel (Baan Chantra and The Promenade was dissapointing).
The Headland was very comfortable but service left a bit to be desired
, we had to ask for a couple of things more than once. The deck, furniture
and layout of the villas was very tasteful and definitely very good
value if you can share the cost amongst 6 people (each villa sleeps
6). All in all, recommended if you would like some privacy, beautiful
views, lovely beaches and wonderful outdoor facilities for dining. |
