Zazen
Boutique Resort & Spa, Bophut Beach
This is a very comfortable hotel, if a bit over priced. The setting
is beautiful in lovely gardens. The beach is very small but has nice
sunbeds, however when a wedding was taking place the rest of the residents
were squashed onto a miniscule bit of beach and the lounge bar was
out of bounds as part of the reception was being held there, with
no compensation to the other guests. The staff were delightful and
VERY helpful when my husband was ill and the restaurant manager, Diego,
produced simple bland meals for him which had been requested by the
hospital.

Zazen is an experience, a concept of beauty and relaxation. My husband
and I went there for our honeymoon and felt treated like a king and
a queen by the staff. The surrounding is fantastic, the restaurant
looks lovely and the food created by chef Wally is excellent; you
really have to trie. We we re pleasently surprised to see all the
effort that was made to make our room special for our honeymoon. Two
beautifull swanns surrounded by a heart made out of orchids. The rooms
are wonderfully decorated, everything is reconsidered carefully. Just
go there!!!

The hotel is very nice ,the beachfront villas are at only 2 steps
from the sea ,with great views and very reasonnable price .The room
is well furnished .The restaurant is good ,the western menu is way
better than the thai menu which is only ok ,but the restaurant is
pricey ,I think there is better restaurant at this price at bophut
or chaweng beach . The staff is very helpful. I would recommended
this hotel which is really a good value althought the restaurant is
not as better as what the other reviews said .We were a bit desapointed
by the beach too, the sand is a kind of yellow color and not really
white .So the water isn t very clear .The chaweng beach is better
,but there is much more hotel and people too ,whereas the bophut beach

Hotel very plush and welcoming. We chose the garden standard room which
although large enougth was quite dark due to the enclosed nature of
the garden bungalows. The resort itself is very exquisitely decorated
the gardens beautiful but the one area of fault the is no real lounge
area where you can sit and drink and with there being no real sitting
area in front of our room this was a minus point. The beach and swimming
we found poor we preffered meanem.Restaurant and food very good but
drinks overpriced.

Wonderful little boutique hotel, where a lot of love was put into
detail. A bit tricky with small children (ours were 3 yrs and 1,5
yrs) because there is a lot of water to potentially fall into, but
the very friendly staff always kept an eye on them, so there was no
problem at all. Great restaurant. Excellent food for very reasonable
prices. Great fresh fruit juices and smoothies and wonderful breakfast
buffet. We would love to come back!

Beautiful pool area and restaurant. Good breakfast. The most comfortable
sun beds that I have ever used and the staff were also very nice as
were the many nice touches such as the tropical fish in the bathroom.
The restaurant was a mixed bag as we had one great meal and one bad
one. The Thai food was very bland and expensive compared to other
restaurants in the area. There are a couple of small places a few
minutes down the beach which did very nice Thai food at about a fifth
of the price of Zazen. The bar prices were also expensive. The biggest
disappointment were the prices of the massage treatments as they were
totally excessive, we used a place further down the beach with a blue
roof where we got excellent service at a fraction of the cost at Zazen.
Another irritation is that everything you buy including trips etc
gets 17% added for service and tax. We stayed in several nice hotels
during our trip to Thailand and this was the only place that did this.
As for the room it was pretty small and basic, the concrete floor
gave it a very down market feel despite the nice artistic touches.
A very nice place to stay but after a few days the constant irritating
musak that gets played constantly all day was getting on my nerves.
The 500 bht taxi fare to the airport just round the corner was also
excessive as it only cost 300 bht to get here from the other side
of the island. Overall a nice place to stay for a few days but be
prepared to pay over the average for everything.

we stayed 12 days in beach bungalow. Small but very nice. Got a very
big baby cot( room for 3 babies. Everything was wonderful. Has been
in Chaweng Cabana before. This was 100 times better. Stylish! The
beach is not so good, lots of gelly fish. We got used to it! Peace
and quiet and still only 15 minutes away from chaweng. A bit irritating
with the very friendly waitresses, that always where picking on our
20 moths old baby. She stopped eating. Just tell them in a nice way!
We will come back!

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Zazens. The people are very friendly
and the resort is nice. It did feel a bit busy at times, particularly
if you want to get a sunbed by the pool, I think we managed this once
in six days. there were more beds by the sea which was just as nice.
I had chosen this hotel in a bid to avoid towels at dawn scenario
but was disappointed. The food was generally good but disappointing
on occasions. Prices in the resort are quite high in comparison to
elsewhere, in particular the spa (if you can really call it that).
Try the Tamarind Springs for a real Thai Spa experience or one of
the many places along the beach, much more reasonable and just as
good! Overall a good resort.
